In July 2010, Lagos State passed a law to prescribe the levies that may be collected by local government councils in the state. The aim of the law was to reduce the incidence of multiple and illegal tax collection.

In 2012 & 2013, CPPA implemented and produced a series of quantitative and qualitative research studies geared towards providing credible evidence of the impact of the new law on micro and small/medium enterprises (MSMEs).
