Governor of Lagos state, MrAkinwunmi Ambode Inaugurates governing council of Citizens Mediation Centre

On Wednesday 24th January 2018, the Governor inaugurated a governing council for the Citizens Mediation Centre. The Centre serves as an Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre providing a non- adversarial forum for the mediation and settlement of disputes between parties who voluntarily agree to the mediation of the disputes by mediators. Functions of the council include: monitoring performance of the Centre; assessing user satisfaction of mediation services; reviewing and formulating new policy guidelines for the Centre for the overall development and growth of the Centre[1].

 

Governor of Sokoto state commissions 80KWp Solar Electricity Project

Governor AminuWaziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State on the 19th of January, 2018, commissioned the 80KWp solar mini – grid electricity project which will provide uninterrupted power supply to Kurudla Village in Gudu Local Government Area of the state. The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. DietmarKreusel, expressed optimism that the introduction of solar mini grid would expand access to electricity not just in Kurudla, but in other areas of the country, especially rural areas which are outside the national grid[2].

 

Nigerian Government plans N10.6 billion Green bond for renewable energy

At the Nigeria Green Bond Investors Forum held on the 14th of December 2017, the Director-General of the Debt Management Office stated that the federal government is planning to issue N10.6 billion green bonds to finance renewable energy projects to protect the environment. These bonds will be used to finance three renewable energy projects: Renewable Energy Micro-Utilities Programme, Re-energising Education Programme, and Afforestation Programme[3].
